Things are going well, for me. I can't say the same for the kids and Daniel, but I'm fine with that. Baby steps.
Here is what I have been eating and making.
Thursday:
Smoothie
Salad
Cookie at hanks school- it was delicious I have to say.
Carrots and hummus for snack
I made a whole organic chicken in the crockpot and we had that with home made quinoa Mac n cheese and spinach salad
Friday:
Smoothie
Sushi and spring rolls from fresh market.
Greek Yogurt
Daniel brought home food from Level. So freaking good. He brought home tuna tartar, roasted brussel sprouts and pork spring rolls. So I made some sides to go with it. Broccoli and cauliflower with mashed sweet potatoes.
Saturday:
Smoothie and a bite of scrambled eggs
Hummus and veggies
Salad
Pistachio crusted flounder with asparagus and sautéed mushrooms
Sunday:
Whole wheat pancakes with 100% maple syrup
Salad with hearts of palm, tomatoes, pepper, carrots, cucumbers, pine nuts, ham and a little bit of cheese. This was a pretty late lunch so it held us for dinner. We were at michael's. So I also bought some organic mango salsa and whole grain tortilla chips and hummus with cucumbers and carrots.
I made homemade bread last night and I had two small slices. I had to try it. It was my first time making my own bread. It was so good.
I eat a lot of the same stuff. Hummus is a staple. My WW leader said to mix a tablespoon of hummus with a tablespoon of nonfat plain Greek yogurt to stretch the hummus without adding too many points. Haven't tried that yet. I love hummus with veggies!!!
Hearts of palm. So good. I could eat an entire can. I have to remember to rinse them. Thy can be a little salty. But I love salt. Weird, I know.
I would say so far so good. The biggest thing has been coffee. I haven't really drank it. I tried it yesterday with agave sugar. I love Splenda and we have some in the house and I keep staring at the yellow packets. But I have resisted temptation. The problem is that sugar and agave both have calories. Is there a zero calorie all natural sweetener out there???
Anyway, this has been my journey so far. I really hope it shows on the scale this week. We shall see. I also had a glass of red wine on Friday and Saturday. So that might counter my good eating. I love red wine on a cold night.
I don't have a bread maker. So I was surprised at how good the bread came out. Have you tried anything new lately???
Have a great week!

100 Days of Real Food
I am desperate....
Desperate to be skinny again, desperate to wear all my skinny clothes. I'm not asking to be a size 2. I just want to get back down to an 8/10. I know that I will never be a 2.
So I have been back on WW, but tracking sucks. It really sucks. I do not like it, It is not convenient for me.
So through MOPS I found 100 Days of Real Food, such am inspiring blog. It is about cutting out processed food, eating organic, and hopefully having more energy and losing weight in the process.
There is a 10 day challenge that my family is going to start tomorrow. I'm excited. I just dropped about $200 on organic groceries for the week, so I am hoping it helps. For lent, I have cut out all soda. So hopefully that will help as well.
Ugh, so I'm desperate. I just want to be skinny again or skinnier.
I'm also cutting down my wine. I need to add in exercise but that is hard to find time to do and I hate going outside in the cold. I hate it.
Anyway, wish me luck!!!

Anti-Cancer Book
On a recommendation of a colleague at work, and I use the term colleague with a little bit of a wink. He is more of a boss-type. Retired O-6, but COMPLETELY freaking cool. Seriously, he is not your TYPICAL O-6 (and those of you in the Navy or were in the Navy KNOW what I am talking about!!!) So, anyway, Mike recommended this book to me and after just reading the introduction, I am already fascinated.
Anti-Cancer by Dr. David Servan-Schreiber is an amazing story. It discusses how certain cancers (colon, prostate and breast) are linked to our diet, stress and lack of exercise in our culture. He focuses on how to structure your diet around cancer-fighting foods, how vitamin D3 plays a significant role in slowing cancer growth and why to avoid sugars and bleached flours. It is fascinating already, and I haven't even gotten into the MEAT of the book.
So, I wanted to give Mike a little shout out - THANK YOU!!! This is another way we are going to structure our diet and change what we put into our bodies!
